Today I realized that it has been almost 4 years since we first put on the original MOGA. Back then, we called it the Midwest Invitational Geocaching Competition. The Competition part was a little intimidating to the new folks so the next year we changed the name. The Midwest Open Geocaching Adventure was born.
It really doesn't seem that long ago but it has been. Time flies when you're having fun!
The purpose of that event was to bring people together, offer something challenging outside of a group hunt, and have a whole weekend of fun! I think over the last 4 years, we have succeeded.
I am not too sure how much longer we can go. I agreed to take it through the 5th year. Already, we are looking at over 300 people at this year's event. That is up quite a bit from last year. Next year, it could grow to a true MEGA event. I have looked at the MEGA events and have noticed most of them are way too small to be considered "MEGA". We will not persue the MEGA icon until we truly have 500+ in attendance. Surprisingly, it could be next year.
My Blog will consists of the MOGA experience. Putting it together, overcoming trials, and the event itself. Stay tuned for more!
